Guitar Pedals

Postby Northern Wizard » 23 Dec 2010, 17:13

Hi All...

So then geetar heads, what pedals do we all like on here?

I'm running a '62 Tele custom into a Vox AC15 via a MXR Dyna Comp, Boss Super Overdrive, Boss Boss Super Chorus, Boss Phaser PH2 and finally a Crybaby Wah...

I'm not happy with the phaser to be honest, sounds a bit too digital...anyone experienced on here with Leslie Rotary Speaker effects for guitar? Thats what sound I was after...

I've heard the Danelectro Rocky Road does a good impression of Leslie, anyone used one?

hi there!

i play a Vintage VSA 535 ( ES 335) with a installed bigsby and a Gibson SG Standard through a Vox 60 Watt Valvetronix ( the old series from england not the korean one). My box is a Epiphone triggerman (great for vintage sounds and look).

I use only two pedals a Dunlop Crybaby and a Electro Harmonix Big Muff. The other effects come from my amp, which are great too. The onboard effects i use are: sometimes a tremolo, a tubescreamer for one channel, a delay and reverb (can't get enough of reverb!!!).
the amp model i choose is every time a AC 30 with treble booster, allthough i chould choose between i think 16 amps ^^. Vox are just the best.

i would love to buy some other guitars like a casino, a twelve string acoustic, a telecaster and maybe a old sheraton with mini humbuckers.
the amp is wonderful but in the future i will buy a Vox AC 30 with blue bulldogs i think.

the sound i want and nearly get is a crossover between Dig out your soul and BRMC.

One of my friends was using a vsa 535 I remember and he said something like he had more pedals but used less amps but had something like 40amp of some newer model.

I play a 1970 Gibson SG Standard and a Aria Pro II Tri-Sound '79 into a '84 Marshall JCM 800.

Pedals: Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Carl Martin Hot Drive N Boost, Carl Martin Hydra Boost, TC Electronics Nova Delay, Boss TU-2 Tuner, Dunlop CryBaby Wah..

Tavs...

Whats the difference between your two drive pedals then? do you set one up for slight drive and the other with a bit more oomph?

The fulltone fulldrive is almost like a double circuit tubescreamer, and it's allways on.. with a little hint of overdrive, so my "standard" sound never gets fully clean.. and CM Hot drive n boost i put on for distortion and solo's..

similar to my set up really in a way. I run a les paul into vox ac15 with the tob boost channel about 11 o'clock via an mxr diamond compressor and for some songs a boss super chorus. then use a super overdrive on top of that with just a quarter of the drive on it. if you've heard crashin in by the charlatans it nails that sound perfectly. knock up the drive to half on the super od and it hits definitely maybe territory perfectly

if you dont already have one get yourself the mxr dyna comp. simple pedal, subtle effect but will be the best bit of gear you buy all year trust me. run it ontop of your slightly dirty or clean sound with output at 3 o clock and compression at 11 o clock. it's sweet as ;)

any reccomendadtions for boosting a clean / nearly clean sound without giving it any more distortion? trying to nail john squire's live sound circa blackpool empress ballroom on tunes like waterfall. if I use clean it's not ballsy enough but I don't want too much overdrive so the od pedal no use really?

I have an old BOSS pedal. It's a Delay Pitch shifter that does about six different things, a Big Muff, a BOSS rotating speaker simulator, and a Morley wah. Sometimes I use a BOSS 1180 mini studio's effects. It's good too. I like to go straight to amp also, w/ no effects at all.
