Can't tell from that short video if Gem is using a Rickenbacker or his custom job. Either way, it looks pretty damn cool in his hands. I dig the tone. Very BRMC meets Dig Out Your Soul tone.

Looking at it almost frame-by-frame, it appears to be a Rickenbacker 12 string, most likely a 360-12 OS, 360-12 or a 330-12 -- hard to tell without seeing the neck inlays. Either way, will sound just brilliant!

You see a Rickenbacker 12 string?? I see a six string 330 maybe and Andy is using a Black possibly Red...Gibson 335 its too dark to tell. Wotten has a Bass that looks something like this http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0190086850

I am pretty sure it is a Fireglo 330/360-12. At :04 - : 06 you can see the half channels carved for the tuning pegs and both sets of tuners are visible.

I'm sure the Rickenbacker is a 6-string, though camera glare makes it look otherwise.

I guess I paused it at a part where it looks like it only had six tuning pegs.

I can see a lot more quality threads about the gear filling this sub forum. It could well be the place to post in a few months time.

Good work lads.

Not really much to go off of with a 22 second clip. I'm sure there will be more

I think Gem is using a 12 string and going out on a limb, I'd say 360-12.

Andy looks like he's using a Gibson ES-335 which looks vintage cherry.

Liam also wears new hat.

I don't see many Rickenbackers atleast not any 12 string ones but after doing a bit of a search I think it definitely is. I'm used to seeing 12 strings with the 12 tuning knobs side by side which is why its hard to tell. That and it looks like there are only six string pegs in the headstock..

That is exactly the same thing that Roger McGuinn (Byrds) said of George Harrison's 360 whilst watching A Hard Day's Night. I think he went out and bought a 360-12 MG the next week or so. All I know is that if it is a 12-string, the sound of Beady Eye may not be exactly intuitive. I'm thinking multiple rich layers or perhaps early Who (Can't Explain, Kids Are Alright) type stuff. Peaked my interest, definitely.

Interesting..its a very deceiving guitar then. A 12 string that looks like a 6 string hmm. I have A Hard Day's Night on Blu Ray I should check, I didn't notice there either I just assumed it was a six string

Hey Marcos,

Take a look at a blown up image of the headstock of the 360-12. You'll see just how deceiving it can be: http://www.bananasmusic.com/multimedia/16014/BodyImage/Rickenbacker_360-12headstock.JPG

That short promo must not be the video! In the promo, Gem is using a 12 string Fireglo Rickenbacker., In the Bring the Light video, he is using his standard Non-Reverse Firebird with 3 P-90s in sunburst. Andy is either using a Gibson ES-355 or an ES-335 with custom block inlays (popular in the late 70's) in Cherry Red. Plus, there are a few Vox AC30s scattered in the back. Overall, nothing has changed as far as hear goes! That is a let down. I hoped to see something different. Not that one can study guitar tone from that tune anyway! Great solos though.

i think it's not that bad if they don't change the gear. i hope gem is using his casino more often and the rickenbacker. i like his firebirds but the tone of the other guitars would be interessting.

i think it's his natural Epiphone Casino with the bigsby he used live in 2000 during "who feels love" or with heavy stereo in the "smiler" vid. but a ES 335 in white would be ace!!!!

In the video its more clear but it definitely looks white and it has a Bigsby B7 whereas a Casino just has a non vibrato tailpiece on it. Its a 355 for sure

a casino can have a bigsby too. havend you ever seen george harrisons casino with bigsby, which he was playing 1966, or paul mccartneys casino he is still playing, paul wellers sunburst casino with bigsby or keith richards epiphone casino he played on the stones germany, austria tour 1966.

maybe it is a ES 355 but i've never seen gem using one, but noels during the acoustic gigs. and gem plays casinos so it is not so sure and it definetly is not that easy to say its white or natural in the dark video.

Yes a Casino can have a Bigsby I just ruled it out as the one from Wembley because that humbuckers didn't have the same triangle ends by the pickups. I still see white tho so im sticking with that (could make sence its in the background like the dancers who are dressed in white) I can't make out a varitone switch but they aren't on all 355s the other clue would be the headstock but its not visable as you mentioned because its too dark.

Sons of the Stage Video-
Gem- Rickenbacker Fireglow 1997
Andy- Gibson Trini Lopez Signature Model

Even though the Trini has been around for years, and Gem has mentioned this 1997 before, it is good to see something different in their hands!!
