Vox AC15/30 Vs Fender Deluxe Reverb/Twin Reverb...

So then, anyone on here had experience with both/either of these amp brands? Historically they both have equally as impressive band useage (Beady Eye using both types). Give us your opinions?

I have both a twin and an AC30, and I must say, I seldom use either. Being that I am not in a band and only play in my basement studio, I find that both require far far to much volume to break up and sound great. I simply cannot play at that volume to get the proper tone without the walls shaking, dog barking, and wife banging on the floor! Some pedals help, but I tend to just use a Blues Jr or one of my tube Marshall combos for around the house jamming. I might trade my AC30 for an AC15, but I put Celestion Century speakers in the AC30, so I will probably have to get quite a bit of cash for it. The AC15, I am told, has a similar problem but to a lesser degree. Oh well!

Heavy Stereo...

If you're thinking about the AC15 I can vouch for it big time. I've running a Tokai Japanese Les Paul LS80 (one of the decent ones with relatively low output PAF vintage pickups) into an AC15.

With the Top Boost boost channel on about 11 oclock and the master at 9 o'clock I can get a level suitable for the living room (the acid test being that the girlfriend says it's acceptable!!) This gives me a nice just over the edge of breakup sound which i'd descrive as dirty clean. What i'd say is essential though is the MXR Dyna Comp and I also run a Super Chorus on top of this to give it a nice shimmer. Then when I want to push it a bit just hit the Super Overdrive either slightly on for a crunch or halfway up for a heavier distortion...

long story short, I couldn't reccomend the AC15 enough, it's quality. Just get the AC15C1 NOT the CC1. It's much better, i've heard the CC1 is too bright as it doesn't have the Tone Cut that the C1 has

Honestly I had a VOX AC30 and have played in clubs like Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia and World Cafe Live etc...I was never happy with it,. maybe the it was the one I had but it just didn't have that warm tube sound that Fender gets.... I went out and bought a USA made early 90s Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and it's amazing. I don't have quite the tone of Beady Eye or Oasis...but its more in line to Beady Eye...I play either an Epiphone Sheraton, Casino or Riveria through the Fender Deluxe with only and MXR analog Delay and I can't tell how many compliments I get on my tone gig after gig... please check out our tunes on our website....we are called the Fallen Troubadours from Pennsylvania and our record is being released on Universal Warning Records in the end of May when we do a brief tour of England.....come check us out at the Cavern Club on May 24th, Bull and Gate on the 28th and 29th.....CHEERS BEADY EYE FANS!!! I would love for your support.

Not keen on Hot Rod Deluxe's IMO more modern sound and funnily I thought they lacked warmth and sounded a bit shrill...

If I were going fender it would be the Deluxe Reverb

Yeah I always thought the same thing...but when I played this one I was really impressed. It has Cannibis Rex speakers and some really great tubes, which actually gets the Deluxe Reverb sound....I got lucky I guess. But yeah the Deluxe Reverb is the amp to have.

fair enough, must say the Deluxe is a bit pricey for 22Watts! In Vox that puts you in AC30 with Blues territory. lot more amp for your money if you need that much power that is

I would tend to agree with full tube 15 and 30 watts being a bit loud for a living room. Not only that, you can't make them sound the same at different levels. Volume 3 sounds different than 5.... period. The amp I use the most for creativity is the Vox ADTV 30 (discontinued for a newer version by Vox) You can still buy em on e-bay etc. for a couple hundred bucks. Believe me they are worth every penny. 12 effects and 12 amp sounds with 2 volume controls so you can crank up the tube sound on level 2 to a decibal of what would be 5 (or vice/versa). With the effects in the amp there is no hiss from pedals and cords (Or setting them up and tripping over them). I wish I bought the 100 watt one just for a keep sake. P.s. 100 watts version of this amp is more comparable to a full tube 30 watt. **Try an Epiphone Blues Custom (B.C.)30W for UNPARRALLED value on a full tube and spring reverb amp. (750 dollars new). It has no equal. Don't know how long it'll be around for cuz Gibson wants there name on the front. (It's to good and inexpensive to say Epiphone on it.) For the Gibson fanatics.

I think Vox amps are really great. I've always used Fender though. I too play a Casino through mine. I have a Twin (the 100 watt one, not '65 reissue) and a Hot Rod deluxe. I've also had a Vibrolux and a Pro Reverb. I've always had good luck w/ all of 'em. I use a an Epiphone SG also. I can't tell any difference between them and the Gibson. I use the pick-ups that came w/ it too. No problem that I can tell.
