Zak?

Postby Jimmy61 » 11 Mar 2011, 16:30

Does anyone know why Zak Starkey really got the sack? I know it is an Oasis question, but, I am curious...he is one of may fav drummers...and I thought he was the best in Oasis....there we some initial news stories - postings when Beady Eye started that he was involved - obviously they were wrong...

I think he had contractual obligations to the Who, he just drummed for Oasis he wasn't their drummer if you get my meaning.

Think it's the opposite. They wanted him to be in oasis full-time but he couldn't commit more than he already gave. He toured with em in an off year from the Who and could've kept on as the studio drummer but they wanted a member who could tour and do sessions: enter Chris Sharrock. Nothing against Sharrock or Alan White, but I agree with you: Zak was the best drummer oasis ever had.

He has been playing out now and again with his Penquins - Pengu!ns project in London; they generally in the Hoxton - Old Street area...
They are on MySpace as well...http://www.myspace.com/heypenguins

Alan White was the best drummer Oasis ever had, the sound of his kit live was immense. Zak just welted the drums thinking he was Keith Moon.

That is really funny; I don't think Zak "thought" he was Keith Moon...but to each his own....
